A deadly shooting unfolded during rush hour on July 28, when a gunman armed with an M4 rifle stormed a 44-story Park Avenue skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, killing four people—including a New York City police officer—before turning the weapon on himself. The high-rise, home to the NFL’s headquarters and major financial firms, became the scene of chaos as five people were shot in total. Among the victims was Officer Didarul Islam, 36, a 3.5-year NYPD veteran. In his honor, Mayor Eric Adams has ordered all city flags to be flown at half-staff until further notice.
