Lowering the Bar to Fill Classrooms: A Quick Fix or a Risk to Our Kids' Future?

 As teacher shortages drag on, some cities are responding by loosening education hiring standards — allowing candidates with little to no formal training into the classroom. It may patch staffing holes, but at what cost? While students desperately need consistent teachers, lowering the bar risks long-term harm to education quality. Are we solving a crisis, or simply shifting the burden onto kids and underprepared educators? The solution to an under-resourced system shouldn’t be under-qualified staff.
