John Bucy, 41, won’t be there when his daughter takes her first big step into the classroom this month. Instead, Bucy is one of over 50 Democratic lawmakers who fled Texas in a dramatic attempt to block President Donald Trump’s push to secure a razor-thin Republican majority in Congress. Now holed up in an undisclosed hotel in Illinois, Bucy says he's prepared to stay away for at least 30 days — maybe more — as the political standoff in Austin continues to escalate.
